THIS WEEKS QUESTIONS :

 

(12-27-00)

 

1. A1 jumps and shoots the ball, after releaseing the ball, which goes in the basket, but before he/she returns to the floor, A1 charges into B3. You call a charge against A1, what do you do with the basket?

 

2. While A1 is holding the ball, B1 tries to steal the ball, but fails and falls to the floor. A1 now drives to the basket and trips over B1's leg.

A.) Foul on B1

B.) no call

 

3. B1 and B2 are double teaming A1. B1 and B2 are shoulder to shoulder when A1 tries to dribble between them.

A.) A1 has the greater responsibility for any contact

B.) B1 and B2 have the greater resposibility for any contact.

 

4. The assistant coach of team A is using a laptop computer at court side or from the press box. The coach is recording the statistics for use at halftime. IS this OK?

 

5. A1's field goal is rolling on the rim, when B1 slaps the backboard, causing it to vibrate and the ball bounces off. IS THIS A OR B ?

A.) Charge B1 with a "T"

B.) Charge B1 with a "T", and rule basket interference.

1. Contact that does not hinder an oppenent from normal defensive or offensive movements should be considered :

B.) No call

 

2. A1, from deep in the backcourt, throws a pass to A2 who is in the frontcourt. The ball obtains frontcourt status when?

 The ball touches a player or the floor in the frontcourt. (4-4-2,4-4-4)

3. A1's try is within the imaginary cylinder above the rim and NOT touching the basket ring, when B5 jumps and touches the basket ring. WHAT IS YOUR CALL ?

 This is NOT basket interference. (4-6-1)

4. On the jump ball between A1 and B1 to start the game, the ball is touched simultaneously by A5and B5 and goes out-of-bounds. What do we do now?

 We have a re-jump with A5 and B5

(6-3-3,7-3)

5. When a goal is made, the ball remains live....TRUE or FALSE?

False...the ball is dead (6-7-1)
